Residents Are Urged To Oppose FAA's Move To Accelerate Airspace Redesign Plan

To begin on 12/17

Residents are urged to contact Governor Jon Corzine and State Attorney General Anne Milgram to voice opposition to the FAA's move to accelerate implementation of its airspace redesign plan.

This implementation is slated to begin around December 17th despite 11 legal challenges filed by dozens of communities throughout the region and despite the Government Accountability Office's (GAO) current investigation into the methods and procedures used by the FAA in developing the plan.

The message to both Governor Corzine and Attorney Milgram should be:

  • to instruct state Attorney General Anne Milgram to file an injunction seeking to halt the FAA from implementing its departure “dispersal headings” at Newark Airport and Philadelphia Airport,
  • to instruct the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to vigorously oppose the changes, and
  • to instruct the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and/or an independent aviation industry expert to analyze the “significant” noise and emissions impacts of the FAA’s plan.
